Welcoming new Mainers is an important pillar of Maine’s future and growing Maine’s economy.  A recent jobs forecast estimates Maine will need to fill nearly 30,000 jobs by 2026. That’s why as Governor I will:

  • Support English Language Learner programs and Welcome Centers to accelerate the transition of new Mainers into the workforce and economy.
  • Work to improve certification review to match foreign credentials with the state’s licensure requirements.
  • Send a clear message that those who follow the legal citizenship process are welcome to live, work, and raise their families in Maine.
  • Never tolerate discrimination.
